interacting
also: clicking, fixtures, menus, using things
Some things in a room are part of it: statues, fountains, bookshelves, a manhole cover. You can't pick them up, but you can often do things with them. Try the obvious verb: lift manhole, read bookshelf, push statue, listen. Other things, like mushrooms in the sewers, grow back a while after someone takes them, so there's usually more for the next person. Click a name. On the webclient (and telnet clients with MXP), the creatures, people, players and things in a room are links: click one for what you can do with it. Look, consider or kill a creature; talk to, ask or shop with someone; page, invite, follow or give to a player; pick up a thing. Options marked ✎ go in the input box for you to finish (ask Rook about ...), the rest happen at once. Examples: lift manhole read bookshelf push statue listen get glowcap
In the game, help interacting shows this too.
