One-handed and two-handed weapons, and your off hand. wield <weapon> in your main hand wield <weapon> offhand a one-handed weapon in your off hand unwield put away your main hand's weapon unwield offhand ...or the off hand's (unwield all: both) wear <item> an off-hand item, like a shield One-handed weapons (pistols, knives, batons, machetes) are quick: a swing every 2.5 seconds. Two-handed ones (rifles, shotguns, katanas, axes, hammers, lances) are slow, a swing every 4 seconds, but hit far harder: more damage over a fight, and big hits get through armor better. Some weapons have their own speed. The damage a weapon shows is per swing. Your off hand. A two-handed weapon needs both hands, so wielding one puts away whatever's in your off hand. With a one-handed weapon your off hand is free for: a second one-handed weapon: it swings too, on its own timer, for half its damage and a little less often on target an off-hand item, like a shield: what it adds counts like any gear (more armor, say) score shows your damage and how often you swing, with each hand. A weapon's card in your inventory window, or a shop's listing, says how many hands it takes and its speed; so does wield. Examples: wield combat knife wield switchblade offhand unwield offhand
